Shure MV6 Gen 2 gives gamers and creators more say over the automatic processing in their USB microphone. Shure’s updated product page lists the second-generation model at $169 in the U.S. It comes in black or white, with adjustable level control, adjustable noise reduction and five-band EQ.
The appeal is a familiar one: connect a microphone and get on with recording, streaming or a call. However, Gen 2 gives users more room to shape what that simple setup does. Its processing can handle changing voice levels while leaving decisions about tone and background ambience in the user’s hands.
Shure MV6 Gen 2 puts automatic audio under your control
Auto Level Mode adjusts microphone gain as your voice changes. Specifically, the new controls let users customize the gain target and response time. That matters when a quiet conversation turns into a loud gaming moment, or when someone moves closer to the microphone.
Meanwhile, the adjustable Real-time Denoiser lets users choose how much background ambience remains. You can aim for stronger isolation or leave more of the room in the recording. Shure presents this as a choice between cleanup and a more natural sound, rather than a single fixed setting.
Also, a five-band EQ adds finer tone adjustments. Users who prefer a simpler control can choose Dark, Natural or Bright with the tone slider. Speech, Singing and Instrument presets provide starting points for different recording jobs.
Still, those controls do not establish how the microphone sounds in a real room. Shure’s product description explains the intended behavior; listening tests would be needed to judge the noise reduction and level changes. This is a launch report, with no hands-on sound-quality verdict.

A white finish and a more flexible desk setup
Shure summarizes the package as “Two colorways. One complete setup.” The new white version pairs its body with a space-gray flocked windscreen. Both colors include a matching desktop stand and USB-C cable.
Additionally, the included cable now measures two meters, giving users more placement options around a desk. The desktop stand has an isolation base, and Shure says users can add a compatible boom arm for more positioning flexibility.
The microphone uses a dynamic cardioid capsule with onboard digital processing. It also includes Shure’s Digital Popper Stopper, which the company says reduces harsh plosive sounds. A physical tap-to-mute control provides a quick way to silence the microphone.
Meanwhile, placement remains part of the setup. If you use speakers, including a chair-mounted option such as the Razer Clio X, test voice capture with playback active. Noise processing gives you another control; it does not remove the need to check what the microphone actually picks up.
Desktop and mobile support, with compatibility checks
